HighSchoolHack is an all day computer science competition targeted at Arkansas students. The competition consists of a series of challenges/puzzles that will focus on reverse engineering, cryptography, programming, pen testing, web vulnerabilities, forensics, etc.
HighSchoolHack is a Jeopardy style, capture the flag competition. Challenges are grouped by category. Over the course of the competition, participant teams will work to find solutions and capture as many flags (and points) as possible before time runs out. HighSchoolHack is designed to help participants develop knowledge in computer science and cyber security.
HighSchoolHack is not the kind of event where teams focus on building a solution to one problem and walk away with finished code and a potential product. What you walk away with instead is enhanced understanding of computer science, cyber security, the power of intensive team building, and the knowledge that you just completed something epic.
Each team should ideally be 3-4 students. There is currently no limit on how many teams each school can bring. If you only have 1 or 2 students, we will team them up with another partial team.
HighSchoolHack will be in Hot Springs, AR on the ASMSA campus.

No. HighSchoolHack is designed to be fun for everyone from hard core developers to novice tech nerds. Puzzles are designed to help teach skills to open up other puzzles. From beginner to wizard, we have something that will test your skills.
It is free!!!
Email sewardn@asmsa.org if you want to compete but can't round out a team. We will try our best to matchmake you with others in your situation.
Bragging rights. Accolades. Skills. Silly trophies. There might even be prizes
Each team member must bring their computer of choice (Admin rights or a VM with admin rights are highly suggested. Chromebooks are not suggested however...more and more can be done online.). You must be able to connect to our Wi-Fi to complete challenges. Extra extension cords are always appreciated. No monitors or computers will be provided. (If your school is providing the computers and you want to make sure they are setup correctly, I would be glad to talk with your tech department.)
No. However, unchaperoned participants will need a Liability Waiver and will be required to stay on campus during the competition.
We will leave the registration open as long as we have slots available. Assuming spots don't fill up, you will need to register before May 27th to make sure you get a tshirt and swag.
Each student will need to fill out the Media Release. The sponsor will need to collect these and bring them to the event.
